I did a portrait of Kendrick Lamar in response to the Black Lives Matter movement in America. Kendrick speaks openly about race issues in the country through his music. I included the lyrics of m.A.A.d city, Blacker the Berry, Institutionalized, How Much a Dollar Cost, and Sing About Me I'm Dying if Thirst, in the background. I was inspired by those who spoke up about systemic racism in the US as well as Canada and the piece is to amplify those voices.
